- If you have a low spec A2000 (i.e. the original 68000 and only a meg or 3
- of RAM) then a flicker-fixer is probably the best bet. It will allow you to
- run 640x400 without flicker in up to 16 colours.
-
- An alternative is to upgrade your Denise and Agnus chips to the ECS
- versions. You also need to upgrade to version 2 or above of the OS. This
- will allow you to run in Productuvity mode, which is 640x480 in up to 4
- colours.
-
- If you have an expanded A2000 (68020 or higher, 4MB RAM minimum) then you
- could go for a gfx card like the Picasso. This will allow you to run in
- higher res modes (800x600, 1024x768 etc). You need OS2 minimum, and OS3.1
- to get 256 colour screens. A gfx card will also allow you view 24-bit
- images.
-
- Basically the option you choose depends upon your current setup, your needs
- and your bank balance !
-
- The best setup would be a flicker fixer, a Picasso, OS3.1, a 68040 or 68060
- accelerator card with at least 8MB 32-bit RAM, an 1MB or 2 MB Agnus chip
- and a 17" monitor...but we're talking MONEY for this ! ;-)
